Join a leading global pet care organization as a veterinary extern and gain valuable clinical experience while contributing to excellent animal care. This externship is designed for clinical-year veterinary students, offering hands-on training under qualified veterinarians in a supportive practice environment.
An externship experience at an NVA hospital provides veterinary students with a valuable opportunity to understand the daily operations of the practice and gain hands-on clinical experience. While each NVA hospital is unique, all share a supportive environment committed to excellent medicine and exceptional service to animals and their owners.
Externs will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing or assisting in surgical procedures, and medical management of patients. Additionally, externs will have opportunities to enhance their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Most externship durations at Dover Area Animal Hospital range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. These externships are designed for clinical-year veterinary students.
