A leading global pet care organization is offering externships for veterinary students at its Frisco location. Participants will gain hands-on experience by working alongside experienced veterinarians, enhancing their clinical skills and communication with clients and staff. This externship typically lasts between two to eight weeks, providing invaluable insights into veterinary medicine.
An externship experience at an NVA hospital provides students with a unique opportunity to understand the daily operations of the practice and gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. While each NVA hospital has its own characteristics, all share a supportive environment committed to excellent medicine and providing exceptional service to animals and their owners.
Students will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry, observing or assisting in surgical procedures, and managing medical cases. Externs will also have opportunities to develop their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Externship durations at Animal Medical & Surgery Hospital (AMSH) of Frisco typically range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students, regardless of class year, are encouraged to participate in NVA externships.
Veterinary students in the clinical phase of their education may be eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. Click HERE to view the stipend amounts and HERE for more details on the program.
