National Veterinary Associates offers an externship for veterinary students to gain hands-on experience in a supportive environment. Participants will shadow experienced professionals, participate in surgeries, and develop clinical skills, with the possibility of receiving stipends for travel expenses.
An externship experience at an NVA hospital offers students a unique opportunity to understand the daily operations of the practice and gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. While each NVA hospital is unique, all share a supportive environment committed to excellent medicine and providing exceptional service to animals and their owners.
Participants can shadow our doctors and highly qualified technicians, observe case workups, assist in surgeries, develop anesthesia protocols, and ask questions to learn more about daily practice life. Although our days are busy, we strive to make the experience enjoyable while delivering high-quality care.
Externship durations typically range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students in the clinical phase of their education are encouraged to participate.
Veterinary students in the clinical phase are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. Click here to view stipend amounts and details on the stipend program.
An additional $500 travel stipend is offered for externships at this hospital.
