A leading global pet care organization offers an externship for veterinary students at Chambersburg Animal Hospital. Gain hands-on experience in daily operations, medical cases, and surgical procedures in a supportive environment committed to excellent veterinary care. This externship provides students with the opportunity to enhance their clinical skills under the guidance of experienced veterinarians.
An externship experience at an NVA hospital provides students with a unique opportunity to understand the daily operations of the practice and gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. While each NVA hospital is unique, all share common features: a supportive environment, a commitment to excellent medicine, and a focus on providing exceptional service to animals and their owners.
Students will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing or assisting in surgical procedures, and managing medical cases. Additionally, externs will have opportunities to develop their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
The externship durations at Chambersburg Animal Hospital typically range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students, regardless of class year, are encouraged to participate in NVA externships.
Veterinary students in the clinical phase of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. Click HERE to view the stipend amounts and HERE for more details about the program.
An additional $500 travel stipend is offered in conjunction with the amount listed in the link for externships at this hospital.
