Job Description
An externship experience at an NVA hospital will give students the unique opportunity to understand the day-to-day operations of the practice and gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. Although every NVA hospital is unique, they all share some common features: a supportive environment, a commitment to excellent medicine, and the provision of exceptional service to animals and their owners.
Students will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in:
Externs will also have opportunities to practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Most externships at Dover Area Animal Hospital last from two to eight weeks, depending on schedules. These externships are designed for clinical-year veterinary students. Students in the clinical phase of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. Click here to view stipend amounts and details on the stipend program.
*An additional $500 travel stipend is offered for externships at this hospital.
