Aurora Animal Hospital is seeking veterinary students for an externship that offers hands-on clinical experience in a supportive environment. The role includes working with diverse animal patients under the mentorship of experienced veterinarians, providing a chance to grow skills in diagnostics and surgery.
Aurora Animal Hospital is a flourishing ten-doctor practice that provides high-quality medicine with a balance of wellness, surgery, and urgent care. We serve a diverse clientele, including reptiles, small mammals, birds, as well as dogs and cats.
Students will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry, assisting or performing surgical procedures, and managing patient care. Our doctors are friendly and enjoy mentoring students. Externs will also have opportunities to develop communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.

Externship durations range from two to six weeks, with flexible scheduling since we are open 7 days a week. All veterinary students, regardless of class year, are encouraged to participate. Compensation is $0, as required by law, but a $1000 stipend is available for a 2-week externship during the clinical year.
