Job summary

VEG is seeking a Nursing Manager to lead a veterinary emergency nursing team in our open-concept ER hospitals. You will build a culture where staff feel connected, valued, and empowered to deliver exceptional patient care.

In this role you will oversee scheduling, onboarding, and development, support hospital operations, and mentor staff while upholding VEG values. Nights, weekends, and holidays may be required. Competitive compensation and benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) in the state the VEG practice is located is required; AVMA-accredited degree preferred
• 5+ years in a clinical veterinary nursing role, emergency experience preferred; 2+ years of leadership experience
• Excellent communication and people skills
• Must be willing to work in a noisy environment with strong odors

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day flow for nursing team, ensuring tools and support are available
• Oversee scheduling, payroll, productivity, hiring, onboarding and offboarding
• Address patient care issues and team dynamics with empathy and clarity
• Partner with hospital leadership to align on goals and hospital flow
• Use doctor feedback to guide team development and maintain medical excellence
• Lead with VEG values—openness, togetherness, heroic helping
• Champion a culture of learning with in-house training and mentorship
• Ensure licensure, performance standards, and education programs are upheld across the team
• Drive 1:1s, check-ins, and student mentorship for career growth
