Job description

WVRC is seeking an experienced Certified Veterinary Technician with a passion for leadership and patient care to join us as our Clinical Supervisor at our Grafton location, working with the Emergency and Critical Care Department.

Job Summary:

The Nursing Supervisor oversees the nursing staff and manages daily operations to ensure high standards of care and staff performance. Responsibilities include recruitment, performance management, and strategic planning to improve department efficiency and care quality.

Schedule and Compensation:
  • Full-time
  • Second shift, 4pm-1am, with later shifts on weekends
  • Compensation dependent on experience and skillset
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop goals and operational criteria for assigned areas and track progress
  • Operate within the approved budget
  • Plan staffing needs based on client population and budget
  • Monitor and approve payroll
  • Understand departmental workflows
  • Lead problem-solving efforts for daily operations
  • Build cooperative relationships across the hospital
  • Encourage trust, respect, and cooperation among team members
  • Promote client service and hospitality standards
  • Ensure internal and external customer satisfaction
  • Maintain open communication with managers, peers, and staff
  • Provide leadership, direction, and guidance
  • Coordinate interdepartmental functions for efficiency
  • Serve as hospital “go to” in accordance with duty schedule, covering all departments 24/7
  • Coordinate staff training and skills development
  • Collaborate with staff and clinical teams to streamline service delivery
  • Consult on problems and develop solutions to meet client needs
  • Conduct employee development meetings
  • Participate in hiring, disciplinary actions, and performance reviews
  • Notify Hospital Services Manager of equipment needs
Supervisory Qualifications and Experience:
  • College or technical school education or equivalent experience; CVT required
  • Technical credibility in specialized areas
  • Effective leadership qualities
  • Mathematical and analytic skills
  • Strong desire to learn and apply new skills
  • Effective communication skills (written and oral)
  • Ability to demonstrate technical procedures as per protocols
  • Reliability and follow-through
  • Fluent in English; multilingual skills a plus
