Job summary

The role performs comprehensive laboratory testing on companion animals, across hematology, chemistry, immunology, and more, using automated and manual methods and maintaining strict quality controls.

You will serve as a technical resource, train staff, support daily operations, and ensure accurate results.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or two-year college plus 3–5 years lab experience.
  • Experience with clinical laboratory testing techniques and QC.
  • Ability to perform automated and manual testing and troubleshoot.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and independent judgment.
  • Effective communication with clinicians and staff; able to train others.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel; LIS experience helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare specimens per protocols using automated and manual methods.
  • Perform daily QC, calibrations, and report abnormal results.
  • Apply Westgard Rules, identify trends, and help manage errors.
  • Accession specimens and assist with high workload; prepare shipments.
  • Review and release results; communicate findings to staff and pathologists.
  • Train technicians in instrument operation and QC testing.
  • Maintain procedures, documentation, and inventory; assist management.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
