Job summary

University of Pennsylvania is seeking a Clinical Lab Tech A to perform clinical laboratory testing on companion animals using both automated and manual techniques across hematology, chemistry, coagulation, cytology, and more.

The role includes preparing specimens, reviewing results with pathologists and clinicians, maintaining daily quality control, and training veterinary students in the lab, all within Penn's renowned research environment.

Qualifications

• Associate of Science required.
• 1–2 years of experience or equivalent.
• Clinical laboratory testing experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Preparation and testing of laboratory specimens, following established protocol.
• Review and release of results; communicate with pathologists and clinicians regarding abnormal results
• Performing daily quality control, evaluating results/trends, communicating abnormal results to supervisors/lead technician(s)
• Accessioning specimens, answering phones, preparing specimens for shipment
• Teaching veterinary students in laboratory classes, on rotations through clinical laboratory
• Laboratory organization, inventory management, restocking laboratory supplies
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
