Job summary

Petco in Massachusetts is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support Vetco Total Care hospital patients and provide excellent customer service to pet owners. You will greet clients, record vitals, assist veterinarians, and help maintain medical records.

Qualifications

• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be compassionate and sympathetic, and maintain professional demeanor.
• Must have telephone and computer skills.
• Must be a team player willing to learn new techniques and treatments.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients, escort to exam room, obtain weight and vital signs, and record EMR.
• Assist doctors with appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia under supervision.
• Perform patient restraint, obtain and process lab samples, dispense medications, and maintain EMR.
• Schedule appointments, provide client education, relay test results, and update records.
• Prepare patients for procedures and monitor anesthesia and recovery as directed.
• Provide in-hospital treatments, monitor vital parameters, and assist with discharge or transfer.
• Assist in training of new staff and disseminate knowledge.
• Keep hospital environment neat and maintain pre-determined maintenance schedule.
