BluePearl Pet Hospital in Golden Valley, MN is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Assistant to join our team!

Position: Veterinary Assistant for our Radiology department.

Work Schedule: Full Time

Pay Range VA I/VAII: $19.35 - $28.70/hour

*This pay band depends on local veterinary licensing, experience, and advancement through our competency assessment tool.

Competitive Shift Differentials: Earn more with our shift differentials!

• Weekday Night (Mon-Fri 6p to 8a): $3.50
• Weekend Day (Sat-Sun 8a to 6p): $4.00
• Weekend Night (Sat-Sun 6p to 8a): $5.00

As a Veterinary Assistant, you will:

• Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Report patient signalment, problem list, and plan during nursing rounds.
• Understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects, and appropriately monitor therapeutic responses.
• Administer medications via appropriate routes and durations.
• Perform physical exams; accurately assess heart rate, pulse, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate, and effort.
• Possess a working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment and assist with patients classified as ASA I or II.
• Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrate proficiency in assigned roles as directed by clinicians or supervisors.

Work Towards:

• Advanced skills such as phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, urinary catheter placement, NG tube placement, and more.

• Administering medications via all routes.

• Becoming proficient in hands-free radiology and laboratory equipment.

• Career leveling, including becoming a certified or non-certified technician.
