Job summary

National Veterinary Associates is seeking a veterinary assistant to support a multi-department team in Ocala, FL. You will assist with patient care, monitor hospitalized pets, and help with routine tasks to ensure high-quality client and patient care.

Responsibilities include restraining animals during procedures, assisting with diagnostics, maintaining cleanliness, administering medications under supervision, answering phones, and delivering friendly customer service to clients and their pets.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Self-starter, able to multitask and a team player.
• Genuinely enjoys working with animals and is able to deal with them even when they are stressed, ill or in pain.
• Prefer 1+ years of experience, but not required.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job. Lift up to 40 lbs and restrain animals; will be assisted by staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care and treatment.
• Monitor hospitalized pets; aid in care after surgery.
• Maintain inventory and stocking.
• Restrain animals during blood draws and nail trims.
• Aide with routine diagnostics (radiographs, bloodwork, fecal).
• Sterilize surgical instruments/equipment.
• Clean/disinfect cages, kennels, exam and treatment areas.
• Administer medications under Veterinarian/Vet Tech supervision.
• Feeding/bathing animals.
• Answer phones.
• Customer service.
• Help clients with their pets.
