Job summary

National Veterinary Associates is seeking a veterinary assistant to support the hospital team by assisting with patient care, monitoring hospitalized pets, restraining animals during procedures, sterilizing instruments, and answering phones.

You will help with diagnostic tests, administer medications under supervision, maintain inventory, and assist clients with their pets. The role requires compassion for animals and ability to multitask in a busy hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years old or older.
• Prefer 1+ years of experience, but not required.
• Ability to meet physical demands: lift up to 40 lbs and stand for long periods.
• Genuinely enjoys working with animals and can handle stress.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care and treatment.
• Monitor hospitalized pets and aid in post-surgery care.
• Maintain inventory and stocking.
• Restrain animals during blood draws and nail trims.
• Aid with routine diagnostic tests (e.g. radiographs, bloodwork, fecal).
• Maintain and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
• Clean and disinfect cages, kennels, exam and treatment areas.
• Administer medications under veterinarian/tech supervision.
• Feed and bathe animals.
• Answer phones and help clients with their pets.
