Job summary

Pound Ridge Veterinary Center is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our team of veterinarians, technicians, and support staff in delivering the highest standard of animal care.

The position offers a 4-day work week (Mon–Fri 7:45 AM–5:30 PM, alternating Saturdays 7:45 AM–12:30 PM) and an hourly salary of $18.00–$20.00, with benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, an employee pet discount, and a referral bonus.

Qualifications

• Experience in a veterinary setting preferred, not required for all roles.
• Ability to disinfect, prepare rooms, and use basic diagnostic tools.
• Capable of safe animal restraint and handling under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and techs during exams, treatments, and surgeries.
• Restrain animals safely and compassionately.
• Prepare examination and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment.
• Perform basic laboratory tests (blood, urine, stool samples).

Pound Ridge Veterinary Center is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to work alongside our team of experienced veterinarians, skilled technicians, and devoted support staff to ensure each animal receives the best possible care during its stay with us. Salary: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour, determined by the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications.

Schedule: This position offers a 4-day work week, with shifts scheduled Monday through Friday from 7:45 AM to 5:30 PM, and every other Saturday from 7:45 AM to 12:30 PM.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist veterinarians and vet techs during examinations, treatments, and surgeries
• Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately
• Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces
• Perform basic laboratory tests, such as collecting blood, urine, and stool samples
• Administer medications and vaccinations under the supervision of a veterinarian
• Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed
• Maintain accurate medical records
• Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits
• Clean and maintain the clinic, including stocking supplies and ensuring a safe and sanitary environment

Qualifications:

• Previous experience working with animals in a veterinary setting is preferred.
• Technical know-how in areas such as disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.
• Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
