Thrive Pet Healthcare is seeking a Veterinary Assistant for Stone Ridge Veterinary Hospital in Pittsford, NY. This full-time position (30–40 hours per week) supports veterinarians and licensed technicians during procedures and daily patient care.

The ideal candidate is a motivated, detail‑oriented animal care enthusiast who can assist with pre‑op, surgery, and post‑op care, educate clients on procedures, and help maintain stocked, clean treatment areas.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience in animal husbandry.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent; AAS preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, squat, reach, stand and walk throughout the day.
• Inventory/purchasing experience preferred (not required).

Responsibilities

• Communicating and educating clients on medical procedures and next steps.
• Assisting DVMs and LVTs with patients during pre-op, surgery, and post-op.
• Stocking exam and treatment rooms with supplies, maintaining a sterile environment for treatment, x-ray, surgery, labs, and isolation wards.
• Utilizing computer information systems to record patient history, update, and maintain medical records.
• Precisely dispensing pharmaceuticals as required.
• Placing weekly inventory orders, managing on-hand inventory, receiving shipments, and processing returns/damaged goods.

About the Role

Compensation

Starting rate ranges from $17–$19 per hour. The exact offer is negotiated based on credentials and experience.
