Job summary

Pound Ridge Veterinary Center is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to work alongside our team of veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to ensure high standards of animal care and customer service. The role offers a 4-day work week with shifts 7:45 AM–5:30 PM, plus every other Saturday 7:45 AM–12:30 PM.

Salary ranges from $18.00 to $20.00 per hour, depending on skills and experience. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, retirement, PTO, pet discount, 401(k) match, and referral

Qualifications

• Experience working with animals in a veterinary setting is preferred.
• Knowledge of disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and vet techs during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
• Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately.
• Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces.
• Perform basic laboratory tests, such as collecting blood, urine, and stool samples.
• Administer medications and vaccinations under the supervision of a veterinarian.
• Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed.
• Maintain accurate medical records.
• Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care and follow-up visits.
• Clean and maintain the clinic, including stocking supplies and ensuring a safe and sanitary environment.

Salary: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour, determined by the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications.

Schedule: This position offers a 4-day work week, with shifts scheduled Monday through Friday from 7:45 AM to 5:30 PM, and every other Saturday from 7:45 AM to 12:30 PM.
