Job summary

The Veterinary Eye Center of Massachusetts in Newton, MA seeks a Veterinary Assistant to join our dedicated team. You will support doctors and technicians to ensure a smooth client and patient experience, handle patient restraint, collect samples, and maintain exam rooms.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year hands-on experience as a veterinary assistant or in animal handling roles.
• Comfort with fear-free handling and restraint of dogs and cats.

• Ability to adapt, stay positive, and manage multiple tasks.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and ethically with patients.

The Veterinary Eye Center of Massachusetts is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our team in Newton. The practice is the first standalone referral ophthalmology practice of its kind in the area.

What You’ll Do:

• Assist Doctors and Technicians in providing a seamless client and patient appointment experience
• Handling and restraint of patients for consultation exams and patient sample collection
• Handling and submission of patient samples to in‑house and external laboratory
• Thorough cleaning, organization, and stocking of appointment exam rooms and appointment treatment area

What We Require:

• At least 1 year of hands‑on experience as a veterinary assistant or professional experience in an animal handling environment such as groomers; day cares; etc
• Confidence in Fear Free handling and restraint techniques with dogs and cats
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and an ability to clearly communicate with clients as well as colleagues
• The ability to adapt while maintaining a positive attitude
• Highly evolved organizational skills with an acute attention to detail
• The ability to work independently, responsibly, and ethically
• A resourceful nature and creative problem‑solving skills
• An openness to feedback, coaching, and continuous learning
