Job summary

The Veterinary Eye Center of Greenwich is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our clinical team in Greenwich, CT. You will rotate across support areas and grow your skills in a state‑of‑the‑art ophthalmology specialty environment.

Responsibilities include patient care, assisting doctors, handling samples, and maintaining clean, stocked treatment areas. CE reimbursements and full-time opportunities are available with strong benefits.

Qualifications

  • 1–2+ years as a Veterinary Assistant in GP, ER, or specialty.
  • Interest and excitement for Veterinary Ophthalmology.
  • Experience with practice management software (ezyVet).

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate hands-on care to patients and support consultations and ophthalmic surgical sanitization.
  • Assist doctors and technicians to ensure a seamless client and patient experience.
  • Handle and restrain patients for exams and sample collection.
  • Submit patient samples to internal and external labs.
  • Keep exam rooms and treatment areas clean, organized and stocked.

The Veterinary Eye Center (VEC) is a purpose-built specialty practice in the heart of Greenwich’s West End (100 Putnam Green). We offer industry-leading Ophthalmological services, advanced diagnostics and surgical treatments in a modern, highly accessible facility. We’re known for our collaborative approach, working closely with referring veterinarians to provide thoughtful, high-quality care and exceptional client service.

We’re seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our clinical team. Whether your background is in general practice, emergency or you’ve already worked in specialty care, this is a unique opportunity to take your skills to the next level in a state-of-the-art hospital designed for learning, teamwork, and excellence.

In this role, you’ll work as a Veterinary Assistant rotating across a range of support areas. You’ll be trained and supported to grow your technical confidence in a fast-paced, well-resourced specialty environment.

What You’ll Do:
  • Provide compassionate, hands-on care to patients including supporting both consultations and Ophthalmic surgical sanitization
  • Assist Doctor and Technicians in providing a seamless client and patient appointment experience
  • Handling and restraint of patients for consultation exams and patient sample collection for Ophthalmic disease testing
  • Handling and submission of patient samples to in-house and external laboratory
  • Thorough cleaning, organization, and stocking of appointment exam rooms and appointment treatment area
What We Require:
  • 1-2+ years of experience as a Veterinary Assistant in GP, ER, or specialty
  • An interest and excitement for Veterinary Ophthalmology
  • Experience with practice management software, (ezyVet is our in-house platform)
  • Adaptability, being able to pivot effortlessly while demonstrating a positive attitude with clients and co-workers
  • Sound judgment with the ability to work ethically, independently, and responsibly
  • Dedication to excellent service for each client and patient and respect for coworkers
  • Flexibility in cross-training with front-desk duties as needed

  • The salary range for this role is: $21-$26/hr
