Job summary

State Road Animal Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians in delivering high-quality patient care. You will monitor hospitalized pets, assist with surgical procedures, educate clients, and help manage inventory and in-house lab work.

You’ll contribute to a compassionate, collaborative team focused on accurate diagnoses and excellent client service. Weekend availability may be required; competitive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Weekend work may be required.
• Previous veterinary experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds; assist with equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in medicine and surgery as needed.
• Take histories, vital signs, weights, and provide client education.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor during procedures.
• Obtain samples and perform in-house laboratory testing.
• Take, develop, and maintain radiographs following safety procedures.
• Provide basic animal handling and restrain animals during exams.
• Administer and monitor medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments.
