Job summary

VCA Rotherwood Animal Hospital in Newton is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our three-doctor, small animal practice. Full-time or part-time hours available, with Saturdays included.

Compensation ranges from $19 to $24 per hour depending on skill set and experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional growth, including license reimbursement, CE support, and leadership paths.

Qualifications

• Must be a Veterinary Technician licensed or eligible.
• Excellent client communication and patient care skills.
• Experience assisting DVMs with procedures and treatments.
• Proficient in history taking, phlebotomy and radiology.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with clients and educate them on pet care.
• Assist DVM team with appointments, treatments, and procedures.
• Perform phlebotomy and safe patient restraint; monitor anesthesia.
• Prepare patients for surgery and provide post-op care.

VCA Rotherwood Animal Hospital has been fortunate to work with pets and their people in the Newton community for more than 45 years. We are a three doctor, small animal practice that believes in the importance of dedicated client and patient care.

We are hiring an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team for Full time or part time hours. At VCA Rotherwood, we encourage and support employee growth and development, with training and development plans that combine theoretical knowledge and practical skill development.

Compensation : $19 - $24 / hr dependent on skill set, and experience

Schedule : Full time. Varies, includes Saturdays

Typical expectations, duties, and daily tasks will include:

• Client communication and education
• Efficient and accurate use of electronic medical records and practice management software
• Supporting the DVM team with patient appointments, taking accurate histories, providing treatments, and assisting with procedures
• Safe patient restraint, phlebotomy skills, hands-free radiology
• Surgery preparation, anesthesia monitoring, and patient post-op care
• Commitment to training and development of new team members
