BluePearl Specialty + Emergency Pet Hospital in Port Washington, WI is seeking a knowledgeable Veterinary Assistant to provide high-quality nursing care for emergency cases and to assist DVM with diagnostics and treatments.

You will triage, perform radiographs and lab work, monitor anesthesia, and guide clients through discharge care while working as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced setting.

BluePearl Specialty + Emergency Pet Hospital in Port Washington, WI is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Assistant .

Our Veterinary Assistants triage emergency cases as they come in and assist DVM with crafting and going overestimates as needed. In addition, they perform diagnostics (radiographs, labwork , etc ), setting patients up in ICU or Inpatient ward, discharging patients, and handle client communication.

As a Veterinary Assistant, you will:

• Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.
• Understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response.
• Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Triage patients, obtain detailed medical histories, and provide clear discharge instructions-including demonstrating treatments and thoroughly explaining medication administration and follow-up care to clients.
• Participate in hospital tasks like cleaning checklists, client call backs, and support other specialties as needed.

• Possess a working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment and assist with patients assigned ASA I or II classifications.
• Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrates proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.
