Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Port Washington, WI is hiring experienced Certified Veterinary Technicians for our busy Emergency and Urgent Care department. The role offers a sign-on bonus up to $2,000 for qualified candidates and a 2nd shift schedule (Monday and Tuesday, rotating Fridays and Saturdays).

You will triage emergencies, perform radiographs, monitor anesthesia, and mentor teammates. We value adaptability, open communication, and the drive to enrich lives through remarkable care for pets.

Qualifications

• Certified veterinary technician with certification active and current.
• Experience in emergency/urgent care environments preferred.
• Ability to triage and monitor critically ill or injured patients.

Responsibilities

• Triage emergency cases and obtain vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique and patient positioning.
• Monitor anesthesia/sedation and recovery as needed.
• Place intravenous catheters and perform phlebotomy with accuracy.
• Mentor and train teammates while providing compassionate care to pets.

BluePearl Specialty + Emergency Pet Hospital, the role of Veterinary Technician is an exciting, fast-paced opportunity that will allow you to utilize the skills that you have worked so hard to gain. As a Certified Veterinary Technician, You Will

• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia and sedation in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
