Qualifications

• Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.
• Understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and monitor therapeutic response.
• Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Perform physical exams including heart rate, pulses, mucous membranes, and temperature/respiratory status.
• Know anesthesia/monitoring equipment and assist with ASA I or II patients.
• Stay current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and follow assigned roles.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to ER patients per hospital standards.
• Document patient signalment, problems, and plans during rounds.
• Administer and monitor medications as prescribed.
• Perform physical exams and monitor vitals accurately.
• Assist with anesthesia and monitoring for ASA I/II patients.
• Maintain CPR proficiency and follow clinician directions.

VA I-II Pay: $18.45 - $27.35/Hr

As a Veterinary Assistant, you will also:

• Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.
• Understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response.
• Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Possess a working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment and assist with patients assigned ASA I or II classifications.
• Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrates proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.
