Job summary

Banfield Pet Hospital in Plantation, FL, seeks a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians, educate clients on preventive care, and ensure a safe hospital environment. You will perform procedures under supervision, maintain medical records, restrain pets safely, assist in surgery as allowed by state laws, and mentor other staff according to NAVTA guidelines.

This role requires NAVTA certification or equivalent, strong communication in English, and flexibility to work

Qualifications

• Certificate of completion from a NAVTA approved Veterinary Assistant program.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old to perform duties involving radiography.
• Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Good hand-eye coordination and ability to use a keyboard and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians to ensure quality care and maximize productivity.
• Educate clients about pet health, wellness plans, and hospital services.
• Obtain patient history and maintain accurate medical charts.
• Ensure safety of pets, clients and staff by following safety protocols and clean/organized spaces.
• Assist with surgery as applicable and mentor paraprofessionals as per NAVTA guidelines.
