Job summary

Banfield Pet Hospital is seeking a dedicated veterinary assistant to support the veterinarian and technicians, ensuring high-quality pet care and efficient patient flow. You will educate clients on wellness plans, take histories, and monitor hospitalized pets under state regulations.

Role requires safe restraint, adherence to protocols, and collaboration with the team. Mentorship and continued learning are encouraged within a fast-paced hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Provide professional, efficient and exceptional service to clients and patients at all times.
• Obtain relevant information and history from clients and maintain proper medical charts.
• Ensure safety of pets, clients and staff by using safe restraining techniques and following protocols.
• Assist with surgery as applicable and follow NAVTA guidelines for paraprofessionals.

Responsibilities

• Act as the extra eyes, ears and hands for the veterinarian and tech to maximize productivity.
• Communicate with veterinarians, technicians and associates to maintain patient flow.
• Educate clients about wellness plans, preventive care and hospital services.
• Monitor hospitalized or surgical pets as allowed by state practice acts.
• Mentor other paraprofessionals in the hospital.
• Perform duties as assigned.
