Job summary

Banfield is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians, educate clients on pet health, and help maintain a clean, safe hospital environment. You will advocate for pets and assist with procedures within state practice acts.

You will work closely with a professional team, follow our Five Principles, mentor paraprofessionals, and contribute to high-quality patient care. The role includes benefits, PTO, and opportunities for growth.

Responsibilities

• Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. within self and team.
• Act as the extra eyes, ears and hands for the veterinarian and veterinary technician to ensure the best quality pet care and to maximize productivity.
• Provide professional, efficient and exceptional service at all times, including preparatory work for procedures.
• Educate clients about wellness plans, preventive care and hospital services.
• Obtain relevant information and history from clients and maintain medical charts.
• Ensure safety of pets, clients and staff by following protocols and maintaining clean areas.
• Assist with surgery as applicable.
• Mentor other paraprofessionals in the hospital.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
