The Veterinary Assistant at Banfield Pet Hospital is a vital team member, supporting veterinarians and veterinary technicians to ensure the safety of pets, clients, and colleagues while maintaining high quality veterinary care.

Responsibilities include maintaining patient flow, communicating with the care team, performing procedures within scope, educating clients on wellness plans, mentoring staff, and delivering professional service in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Certificate from NAVTA‑approved veterinary assistant program or equivalent experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to perform NAVTA‑approved veterinary assistant program skills to aid in practice efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the flow of patients through the hospital.
• Communicate with veterinarians and vet technicians.
• Carry out or set up procedures that do not require veterinarian or vet technician assistance.
• Adhere to hospital standards that keep pets safe and maintain clean, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
• Educate clients about Optimum Wellness Plans and the importance of preventive care.
• Mentor other members of the hospital team.
• Provide professional, efficient, and exceptional service at all times.
