Job summary

Banfield Pet Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians, ensuring safe, quality care for pets and clients. You will help manage patient flow and assist with procedures, while communicating clearly with the care team to coordinate treatment.

You will educate clients about Optimum Wellness Plans and preventive care, and mentor other staff as needed. This role emphasizes safety, compassion, and collaborative practice in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Certificate of completion from a NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant program or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be able to perform all required skills of NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant programs at a level that aids in the efficiency of the practice.

Responsibilities

• Support veterinarians and veterinary technicians to ensure safety of pets, clients and staff.
• Help maintain the flow of patients and assist in procedures.
• Communicate with veterinarians and vet techs to coordinate care.
• Adhere to hospital standards to keep pets safe and areas clean.
• Educate clients about wellness plans and preventive care.
• Mentor other members of the hospital team.
