Position: Veterinary Assistant
Compensation: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
Schedule: Full-Time – Four 10‑hour shifts per week, rotating Saturdays
Hospital Hours: Monday‑Thursday 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM; Friday 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM; Saturday 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM; Sunday Closed
Responsibilities
- Prepare exam rooms and support doctors during appointments
- Obtain patient histories and document medical information accurately
- Collect patient vitals and assist with patient handling
- Serve as a liaison between doctors and clients
- Educate clients on medications, treatment plans, preventive care, and discharge instructions
- Conduct follow‑up calls after appointments and procedures
- Build strong relationships with clients and their pets
- Help ensure every client feels welcomed, informed, and supported
- Assist with patient treatments and routine nursing care as needed
- Support hospital workflow and patient flow throughout the day
- Work collaboratively with doctors, technicians, assistants, and client service representatives
Qualifications
- Previous Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Client Communication Specialist/Receptionist experience preferred
- Strong client communication skills required
- Must have previous experience working in a veterinary hospital setting
- Experience obtaining patient histories and vitals preferred
- Must be comfortable working in a fast‑paced general practice environment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills mandatory
- Positive, team‑oriented attitude mandatory
- Fear Free experience is a plus
- Vetspire experience is a plus but not mandatory
