Veterinary Assistant - Banfield Pet Hospital

The Veterinary Assistant is a key member of the hospital team who supports veterinarians and veterinary technicians, ensuring the safety of pets, clients, and associates, and maintaining quality veterinary care.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional, efficient, and exceptional service to clients and pets.
• Use technical skills on a daily basis within state practice acts and NAVTA guidelines.
• Help maintain the flow of patients.
• Communicate with the veterinarian and vet technicians.
• Carry out or set up procedures that do not require veterinarian or technician assistance.
• Adhere to hospital standards that keep pets safe and keep treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs clean and organized.
• Educate clients about the Optimum Wellness Plans and the importance of preventive care.
• Mentor other members of the hospital team.

Qualifications

• Certificate of completion from a NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant program, or equivalent education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be able to perform all required skills of NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant programs at a level that aids in the efficiency of the practice.
• Positive attitude and strong communication skills.
• Action-orientated, customer-focused, good listeners, effective communicators, and caring for those who care.

Pay

Hourly pay range: $15.00 - $17.37, depending on experience, skill level, and education. The rate may vary by location and applicable minimum wage laws.
