Job summary

Saint Francis Veterinary Center of South Jersey, Swedesboro, NJ, is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join the overnight team. This full-time role involves hands-on care, outpatient treatments, and laboratory work, with surgery assistance and client education.

The position requires overnight availability and weekend rotation. You will work closely with veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity, support anesthesia-related tasks, and maintain accurate medical records.

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of veterinary clinical experience required.
  • Overnight availability is required.
  • Experience in an emergency or surgical setting preferred.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
  • Assist with hospital functions to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
  • Assist with preparation for surgeries and procedures, including anesthesia preparation, monitoring, and recovery.
  • Communicate with clients about pet health concerns and Thrive Membership options, medications, and additional treatments.
  • Maintain comprehensive medical records with practice systems support.
  • Obtain health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
  • Mentor and support fellow team members.

About You

As a Veterinary Assistant, you'll play an important role in pets' lives by providing comprehensive care throughout their journey. Your life-changing work will range from the hands-on care of facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests, to surgery assistance, to support services including admitting and discharging patients.

Experience & Skills Requirements
  • 1-2 years of veterinary clinical experience required
  • Experience in an emergency or surgical setting preferred

Compensation negotiable based on credentials and experience with an hourly pay rate starting at$17-$19/hour. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Overnight shift differential offered!
