Veterinary Assistant – Overnight

Full Time (rotating weekends required)

Saint Francis Veterinary Center of South Jersey, a Thrive Pet Healthcare partner, is seeking a motivated Veterinary Assistant to join our growing overnight team.

About You

As a Veterinary Assistant, you'll play an important role in pets' lives by providing comprehensive care throughout their journey. Your life‑changing work will range from the hands‑on care of facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests, to surgery assistance, to support services including admitting and discharging patients.

Experience & Skills Requirements

1-2 years of veterinary clinical experience required
Experience in an emergency or surgical setting preferred
Must have overnight availability
Experience with anesthesia preferred
Excellent communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills

Role Responsibilities

Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
With each hospital function, assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
Assist with preparation for surgeries and procedures, including anesthesia preparation, monitoring, and recovery.
Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance on Thrive Membership options, medications, and additional treatments.
Assist in maintaining relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.
Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
Be willing to guide, mentor and support fellow team members.

Compensation

Hourly pay rate starting at $17‑$19/hour. Overnight shift differential offered. Compensation is negotiable based on credentials and experience.
