Assistant Veterinary Technician – Full-Time | Suisun City Location
Weekend and Evening Availability Required
ABC Animal Hospital is currently hiring a full-time Assistant Veterinary Technician for our Suisun City location. We're looking for a compassionate, detail-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering high-quality veterinary care.
Schedule Requirements:
- Weekend availability is a must – shifts include both Saturday and Sunday
- Evening shift availability required

Professional Standards:
- Maintain high ethical standards, with strict adherence to sanitation and sterile procedures
- Project a friendly, enthusiastic, and professional demeanor at all times
- Provide constructive feedback directly to management—no participation in gossip or drama
- Maintain composure and efficiency in high-stress situations (including emergencies and euthanasia)
- Manage high call volumes and appointment scheduling with accuracy and timeliness
- Accurately complete and manage medical records in accordance with legal standards
- Confidently use digital tools and platforms (Windows, IDEXX Neo, Gmail, Google Drive)
- Follow all clinic protocols and standard operating procedures efficiently
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Deliver compassionate care to every patient
- Keep exam and treatment rooms clean, stocked, and ready for use
- Perform diagnostic procedures (e.g., lab work, microscopy, radiology)
- Prepare and administer medications as directed by the DVM
- Monitor animals under anesthesia and during recovery
- Assist in surgical and dental procedures, including prep, monitoring, and cleanup
- Respond to emergencies and initiate urgent care procedures as needed
- Administer vaccines and ensure proper patient records
- Maintain equipment in good working order and promptly report any issues to management
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- One year of veterinary experience preferred—but we’re willing to train the right candidate with a strong work ethic and desire to learn
- Experience with IDEXX and Neo is highly desirable
- Strong communication, multitasking, and organizational skills
Physical Requirements:
This role involves physical activity and requires the ability to:
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift regularly throughout the shift
- Lift and move up to 50–120 pounds with help of course
- Use hands for precise handling of instruments and animals
- Possess clear vision and hearing to safely perform all job duties
