Job summary

Berkeley Veterinary Center in New Jersey is seeking an Experienced Veterinary Assistant for a part-time role. Join our AAHA-accredited hospital with Fear Free certification and a culture of teamwork, mentorship, and high-quality patient care.

You will support veterinarians during exams, assist with vaccines and preventative care, obtain radiographs, perform phlebotomy, and help maintain accurate medical records while upholding Fear Free handling practices.

Qualifications

  • Previous veterinary assistant experience.
  • Strong patient handling and restraint skills.
  • Knowledge of preventative care and vaccines.
  • Experience with radiographs, phlebotomy, and sample collection.
  • Knowledge of in-house laboratory procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Safely and effectively handle and restrain patients.
  • Support veterinarians and technicians during exams, treatments, and procedures.
  • Assist with preventative care and vaccine appointments.
  • Obtain radiographs and support diagnostic imaging.
  • Perform phlebotomy and collect diagnostic samples.
  • Complete in-house laboratory testing.
  • Monitor patients and communicate changes in condition to the medical team.
  • Educate clients and help them understand their pets’ care.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and document client interactions clearly.
  • Support Fear Free handling practices throughout the hospital.

  • Schedule: 20-25 hours/week. Saturdays required.

What You’ll Do
