Moffett Veterinary Hospital is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our team in Mobile, AL. You will assist with patient restraint, triage, lab sample collection, diagnostic imaging, and nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases. Some exposure to surgery and anesthesia management is possible.

The role emphasizes clear client communication and compassionate, team-based care. Training and growth opportunities are available within a supportive practice environment.

Qualifications

• 1+ year veterinary assistant experience preferred.
• Compassionate, calm, team player with strong communication.
• Ability to properly restrain pets.
• Proficiency in sample collection, medical history taking, lab tests and radiographs; anesthesia monitoring is a bonus.
• Self-starter ready to advance skills and knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Restrain and triage incoming patients and assist in procedures.
• Collect and analyze lab samples and perform diagnostic imaging.
• Provide nursing care and manage medical/hospitalized cases.
• Administer medications and assist with surgical preparation and anesthesia management.
• Communicate treatment plans clearly with clients; maintain professional, caring environment.

At Moffett Veterinary Hospital we provide a wide range of services for dogs and cats from preventive care, surgery including general surgery and some orthopedics, routine dental cleaning and dental radiographs, in-house labs, boarding, bathing, grooming and more!

Job Description

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications

We’re looking for:

• An experienced Veterinary Assistant with a minimum of 1-year experience preferred.
• Compassionate, Calm, Team Player, Multi-Tasker and Strong Communicator
• Must be able to properly restrain pets.
• Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring are a bonus!
• Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset.
