Job summary

Banfield Pet Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians while ensuring patient and client safety and delivering high-quality care. You will help manage patient flow, educate clients on wellness plans, and maintain clean, orderly treatment areas.

Responsibilities include assisting with procedures, collaborating with the veterinary team, and mentoring colleagues to uphold hospital standards in a busy clinical environment.

Qualifications

  • NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant program or equivalent education/experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Apply NAVTA guidelines and state practice acts in daily tasks.
  • Assist with maintaining patient flow and facilitating smooth clinic operations.

  • Carry out procedures as directed that do not require veterinarian or vet tech assistance.
  • Maintain clean and organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
  • Educate clients about Optimum Wellness Plans and preventive care.
  • Mentor other team members to uphold hospital standards.

Job Summary

The Veterinary Assistant is a key member of the hospital team who supports and assists the veterinarians and veterinary technicians, ensuring the safety of pets, clients and other associates, and the continuity of quality veterinary care.

Responsibilities
  • Professional, efficient, and exceptional service at all times, ensuring clients and pets are comfortable.
  • Use technical skills daily within state practice acts and NAVTA guidelines.
  • Help maintain patient flow.
  • Communicate with veterinarians and veterinary technicians.
  • Carry out or set up procedures that do not require veterinarian or vet tech assistance.
  • Adhere to hospital standards that keep pets safe, and keep treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs clean and organized.
  • Educate clients about Optimum Wellness Plans and preventive care.
  • Mentor other team members.
Qualifications

Preferred Education/Licenses

  • Certificate of completion from a NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Preferred Experience

  • Must be able to perform all required skills of a NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant program at a level that aids in the efficiency of the practice.

Pay Range

$15.99 - $20.44 hourly, depending on experience, skill level, education, and location.
