Briarwood Animal Hospital in Little Rock, AR is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant. The role includes restraining pets, triage, lab testing, imaging, nursing care, and anesthesia monitoring as part of a fast-paced team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience as Veterinary Assistant preferred.

• Must be able to properly restrain pets.
• Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring are a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Restrain pets safely and triage incoming patients.
• Collect and analyze lab samples and perform diagnostic imaging.
• Provide nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases.
• Administer medications and communicate treatment plans to clients.
• Assist in surgery preparation and anesthesia management.

We offer many services to provide the best comprehensive care to our patients including Preventative Care, Surgery, Urgent Care, High Speed Dentistry, Cold Laser Therapy, In-House Diagnostics, Digital full body and dental radiology, Ultrasonography, Medical and/or Vacation Boarding, Grooming and more.

Job Description

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.
