Job summary

St. Francis Animal Hospital is seeking a veterinary assistant with at least 1 year of experience to support a fast-paced, 2.5-doctor practice in Northwest Arkansas. Responsibilities include restraining pets, collecting samples, running labs, assisting with imaging and anesthesia, and communicating plans to clients.

You’ll work in a comprehensive care environment offering preventative care, surgery, dentistry, and urgent care, with ongoing training and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year veterinary assistant experience preferred.
• Compassionate, calm, team player, multitasker and strong communicator.
• Must be able to properly restrain pets.
• Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring are a bonus.
• Self-starter with desire to advance knowledge and skills.

Responsibilities

• Restrain pets as needed and triage incoming patients.
• Collect and analyze lab samples and obtain medical histories.
• Perform or assist with diagnostic imaging and radiographs.
• Provide nursing care for medical and hospitalized patients.
• Administer medications and assist with anesthesia and surgical preparation.

St. Francis Animal Hospital is a well-established, progressive, fast paced 2.5 doctor companion animal and exotics practice located in beautiful Northwest Arkansas. We offer many services to provide the best comprehensive care to our patients including preventative care, surgery, urgent care, dentistry, cold laser therapy, in-house diagnostics, digital full body radiology, ultrasonography, and boarding.

Job Description

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications
