Job summary

Franklin Animal Clinic is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our fast-paced two-doctor small-animal practice in Greenwood Park. Duties include triage, patient restraint, lab analysis, imaging, nursing care, medication administration, and communicating treatment plans to clients.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of experience, is compassionate, a strong communicator, and a team player who can multi-task in a busy environment.

Qualifications

• Experienced Veterinary Assistant with at least 1 year preferred.
• Compassionate, calm, team player, and strong communicator.
• Able to properly restrain pets.
• Proficient in collecting samples, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs; anesthesia monitoring a bonus.
• Self-starter who seeks to advance knowledge and skills.

Responsibilities

• Pet restraint and triage of incoming patients.
• Collect and analyze laboratory samples.
• Perform diagnostic imaging.
• Provide nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases.
• Administer medications and communicate treatment plans to clients.
• Assist in surgical preparation and anesthesia management.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications

• An experienced Veterinary Assistantwith a minimum of 1-year experience preferred.
