Job summary

Lake City Animal Health and Wellness Center in Warsaw, Indiana is hiring a Veterinary Assistant. The role includes restraining pets, triage, collecting and analyzing lab samples, and assisting with radiographs, anesthesia, and surgical preparation.

You will work to provide compassionate patient care and clear communication with clients. The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of experience, strong teamwork and multitasking abilities, and a proactive, self-motivated attitude.

Qualifications

• Experienced Veterinary Assistant with minimum 1 year preferred.
• Compassionate, calm, team player, multi-tasker and strong communicator.
• Proficient in restraining pets and assisting in procedures.
• Experience with sample collection, lab tests, radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Restrain and triage incoming patients.
• Collect and analyze lab samples; perform diagnostic imaging.
• Provide nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases.
• Assist with medications, anesthesia, and surgical preparation.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications

• An experienced Veterinary Assistantwith a minimum of 1-year experience preferred.

• Must be able to properly restrain pets.
• Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, andanesthesia monitoring are a bonus!
• Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset.

Pay Range: $18-$19 per hour
