Job summary

Rockville Road Animal Hospital, a well-established two-doctor small animal practice near Indianapolis, is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our fast-paced team.

You will assist with restraint of patients, triage, lab sample collection and analysis, radiographs, in-house diagnostics, and anesthesia monitoring, while communicating treatment plans clearly to clients.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1+ years experience as Veterinary Assistant.
• Compassionate, calm, team player, multi-tasker and strong communicator.
• Must be able to properly restrain pets.
• Proficient in sample collection, processing of lab tests and radiographs; anesthesia monitoring a bonus.
• Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance knowledge and skillset.

Responsibilities

• Restrain pets safely and triage incoming patients with care.
• Collect and analyze lab samples, perform diagnostic imaging and provide nursing care.
• Communicate treatment plans clearly to clients and document details.
• Assist in surgery and anesthesia management as needed.

Job description

Rockville Road Animal Hospital is a well-established, progressive, fast paced 2 doctor small animal general practice with lots of growth potential located just 5 minutes away from I-465, the beltway circling Indianapolis. We offer many services to provide the best comprehensive care to our patients including Preventative Care, Surgery, Urgent Care, High Speed Dentistry, Cold Laser Therapy, In-House Diagnostics, Digital full-body x-ray, and dental radiology, and more.

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications

• An experienced Veterinary Assistant with a minimum of 1+ years experience required

• Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring are a bonus!
• Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset.

Additional Information

Pay Range: $17-$20/hr
