Our Veterinary Assistants are hands-on members of the patient care team at Carson Valley Veterinary Hospital, working independently and side by side with our doctors. We are a fast-paced general practice, urgent care, and specialty referral hospital with digital x-ray, CT, ultrasound, endoscopy, laser, electrocardiography, a full in-house laboratory and pharmacy, and multiple surgical suites. Veterinary Assistants rotate through several roles: Exam Room, Treatment Room, and Surgery.
Exam room: Get patient history from clients, assist the doctor during exams, and educate clients on their pet's care. Give injections as directed.
Treatment room: Perform treatments as directed by the doctors. Take digital radiographs, prepare samples to send to outside laboratories, and run in-house bloodwork.
Surgery: Prepare patients for surgery and help monitor anesthesia.
Records and teamwork: Document in our electronic medical records, and work well with team members at every level of the hospital.
Preferred: Experience with EZyVet (not required)
The work involves lifting, carrying, and restraining animals. Candidates should be able to lift 40 lbs on their own. Team members will help with animals over 40 lbs. Candidates should be comfortable walking or standing for extended periods and frequently working in a bent or squatting position.
