Job Description - Veterinary Assistant

Highly-rated, fast-paced pet hospital in the East Bay is expanding and needs your help. Eden Pet Hospital is looking for an energetic, caring, responsible and hard-working individual with an outstanding work ethic to fill our Veterinary Assistant position.

Required For This Position

Animal handling experience and confidence; ability to lift objects or pets of at least 50lbs; recognize certain behaviors in animals; working knowledge of basic medical terminology, common procedures and animal husbandry; comfortable interacting with the public; competent computer skills; spell, alphabetize, and perform basic mathematics; and provide exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

As a veterinary assistant your key role is to act as a direct assistant to our veterinarians and coordinate the care of each patient. Your job description includes getting a history from the client, assisting the veterinarian during the examination, keeping meticulous notes on the medical findings, and record care recommendations for each patient. You serve in a wide variety of tasks in the areas of: animal care coordination and treatment, customer service, and record keeping.

Additional Information

The ideal candidate enjoys working with people as much as they enjoy animals. Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or similar environment is preferred.

• The base hourly range for this position is $18.00- $20.00
• Our pay ranges are primarily determined by role, level, and location.
• The range provided for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for the position.
• Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
