Job description

Garden Grove Dog and Cat Hospital is seeking a dependable, motivated, compassionate, and experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our multi-doctor practice in Garden Grove, CA. We are a busy hospital with a diverse caseload, and the ideal candidate enjoys interacting with both people and animals, communicating effectively with doctors, staff, and clients.

Days and Hours

Four shifts per week: three 10-hour weekday shifts and one 7-hour weekend shift.

Veterinary Assistant Responsibilities

1. Compassionately restraining animals
2. Taking digital radiographs
3. Administering medication and vaccines
4. Preparing for and monitoring surgeries
5. Drawing blood
6. Placing IV catheters
7. Caring for hospitalized patients
8. Maintaining hospital cleanliness
9. Obtaining patient vitals

Ideal Candidate Qualities

Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, provide excellent customer service, demonstrate genuine compassion, maintain a positive attitude, and possess good record-keeping skills. Physical requirements include bending, kneeling, lifting up to 30 pounds, and standing for long periods.

Additional Skills and Compensation

Advanced technical skills are a plus but not required. Compensation depends on experience, ranging from $18-20/hour. Bilingual Spanish/English is advantageous.

Hospital Hours and Schedule

Monday - Friday: 7:30 am - 6 pm
Saturday: 7:30 am - 12 pm
Sunday: 10:30 am - 3 pm
Schedule: three shifts per week.
