Job description

Garden Grove Dog and Cat Hospital

is looking for a dependable, motivated, compassionate, and experienced Veterinary Assistant for our multi-doctor practice in Garden Grove, CA. We are a busy hospital with a wide variety of caseloads. The veterinary assistant must enjoy interacting with people and animals, and communicate effectively and professionally with doctors, technical staff, and clients.

Days and Hours: Four shifts per week, including three 10-hour weekday shifts and one 7-hour weekend shift.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
  • Compassionately restraining animals
  • Taking digital radiographs
  • Medication and vaccine administration
  • Preparing for and monitoring surgeries
  • Drawing blood
  • Placing IV catheters
  • Caring for hospitalized patients
  • Maintaining hospital cleanliness
  • Obtaining patient vitals

The ideal candidate can multi-task in a fast-paced environment, provide exceptional customer service, demonstrate genuine compassion, maintain a positive attitude, and keep accurate records. The position requires bending, kneeling, lifting up to 30 pounds, and standing for long periods.

Advanced technical skills are not required but are advantageous. Compensation depends on experience. Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus.

Hospital hours:

Monday – Friday: 7:30 am – 6 pm; Saturday: 7:30 am – 12 pm; Sunday: 10:30 am – 3 pm. The schedule will consist of three shifts per week.

Compensation is negotiable based on credentials and experience, ranging from $18-20/hour. The actual rate will consider your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
