Job summary

Community Veterinary Partners at the Veterinary Center of East Northport in East Northport, NY, is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support doctors, technicians and clients in a full-service veterinary hospital.

This role is ideal for someone with veterinary hospital experience who enjoys hands-on patient care and collaboration to expand clinical skills in a supportive setting. The position offers full-time hours with a Monday–Friday schedule and rotating Saturdays.

Qualifications

• Veterinary hospital experience preferred.
• Comfortable handling and restraining dogs and cats.
• Experience with blood draws, laboratory work, treatments, or surgery is a plus.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Excellent communication and client service skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and technicians with appointments, treatments, and procedures.
• Safely restrain and handle patients.
• Prepare exam, treatment, and surgical areas.
• Assist with blood draws, laboratory testing, IV catheter placement, and diagnostics.
• Support surgical preparation, anesthesia, dentistry, and patient recovery.
• Administer medications and vaccines under supervision.
• Monitor hospitalized patients and provide compassionate care.
• Communicate with clients regarding care and discharge instructions.
• Maintain medical records and keep the hospital clean and organized.
• Work as part of a team to keep daily hospital operations running efficiently.
