Job summary

Nassau Veterinary Clinic, part of Community Veterinary Partners, is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our long-standing community practice in Nassau, NY. This full-time position includes alternating Saturdays and a supportive team focused on mentorship and quality medicine.

Our AAHA-accredited hospital features advanced diagnostic tools, dedicated surgical and dental suites, and spacious areas to ensure smooth workflow and compassionate patient care.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant required.
  • Strong animal handling and restraint skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and client service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Safely restraining patients for examinations and procedures.
  • Assisting veterinarians and technicians during appointments and treatments.
  • Preparing exam rooms, surgical suites, and treatment areas.
  • Cleaning, sterilizing, and maintaining medical equipment.
  • Collecting patient histories and recording medical information.
  • Assisting with laboratory sample collection and processing.
  • Administering medications as permitted by state regulations.
  • Providing compassionate nursing care to hospitalized patients.
  • Educating clients on basic pet care, medications, and discharge instructions.
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient hospital environment.
