CARE | Charlotte Animal Referral & Emergency is a 24-hour emergency and specialty referral hospital in Charlotte, NC. We seek an Anesthesiology Technician who partners with the anesthesiologist to deliver safe, efficient anesthesia and to coach teammates in best practices.

This role emphasizes clinical expertise, initiative, and service, with varied duties from intraoperative care to equipment preparation and interdepartmental collaboration.

Qualifications

• Strong clinical judgment and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to coach and mentor teammates in real time.

Responsibilities

• Consults with anesthesiologist and veterinary teams on case priorities and workflow.
• Prepare, clean, restock anesthesia equipment and workspaces for patient care.
• Perform pre-anesthetic assessments and vital signs under supervision.
• Place and maintain IV catheters and run in-house labs for anesthetized patients.
• Accurately calculate and administer drug dosages and follow controlled substance policies.
• Induce, monitor, and recover patients from anesthesia with veterinarian oversight.
• Perform advanced anesthesia procedures per training and credentialing.
• Position patients for radiographs and operate anesthesia machines safely.
• Provide basic emergency care and maintain detailed anesthetic records.
• Coach and support technicians to uphold gold-standard anesthesia practices.
• Identify ways to improve anesthesia workflow, safety, and cross-department collaboration.

Education

Registered Veterinary Technician license

2+ years anesthesia experience

1+ year specialty/emergency anesthesia experience
