Job summary

Ocean State Veterinary Specialists (OSVS) in East Greenwich, RI, is seeking an Anesthesia Technician to support surgery and imaging services. You will monitor anesthetized patients, assist with induction, intubation, and post-anesthetic care, while collaborating with surgeons and ECC team in a teaching hospital.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years as a veterinary technician, an Associate degree, and strong communication skills; experience with anesthesia and a calm, team-oriented approach is

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as a veterinary technician
• Associate degree in Veterinary Technology preferred
• Active veterinary technician certification preferred
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Strong veterinary knowledge and technical skill set
• Compassionate, patient-focused mindset

Responsibilities

• Set the standard for professionalism, patient care, and client service
• Evaluate anesthetic risk and anticipate patient needs
• Administer medications, fluids, CRIs, analgesics, and blood products as indicated
• Accurately calculate medication dosages and fluid boluses
• Perform IV catheter placement, anesthetic induction, and endotracheal intubation
• Utilize advanced monitoring equipment and respond appropriately to patient parameters
• Operate anesthetic ventilators, rebreathing, and non-rebreathing systems
• Provide thorough post-anesthetic patient care
• Train and mentor veterinary staff in technical skills and industry best practices
